I forged a smile the other day
A lie just shy of showing teeth
Lost all interest in the way
The concrete cracks beneath my feet
Above me someone dotted, blotted
Blue in broken sliding clouds
Slowly slipping by unnoticed
My eyes had wandered somewhere else
Inside your open spacious ovals
I've lost my bearings in the white
Until the colour shapes and settles
The centre blackens all my sight
Eyes watch eyes with such attention
They flicker, flutter, fall and fumble
With this poorly fashioned keystone
My bridge to you will simply crumble
